Investigation underway after remains of fetus found in black bag in Brooklyn

6+ min ago (271+ words) CANARSIE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An investigation is underway after the remains of fetus were found in a black bag in a pile of leaves in Brooklyn on Thursday. Police are estimating the baby boy was pretty far along, about five to seven months into the gestational period. The remains were discovered around 11 a.m. Thursday between two buildings in the Bay View Houses on 102nd Street. Police sources say it was a NYCHA worker out on the grounds, cleaning up trash and leaves, that made the disturbing discovery of the fetus discarded in a garbage bag. "I saw the whole crime scene unit. It's crazy. A lot of people are devastated over here," said eyewitness Erik Roman. Trump to Support Obamacare Subsidy Extension

24+ min ago (309+ words) The White House is poised to put forward a two-year extension for the Obamacare subsidies set to expire at the end of the month. Trump's plan will attempt to take the healthcare issue off the table ahead of the midterm elections. Healthcare was a key part of Democrats' successful campaign in the 2018 midterm elections. Trump's proposal for ACA subsidies will include potential caps on income, limiting the recipients of the program, while also requiring that all enrollees pay some premium. According to the healthcare non-profit KFF, should the subsidies lapse, premiums will double for Americans and an additional 2 million people will be uninsured. Trump is expected to personally announce his plan, of which only sparse details are currently known. The timing of the announcement is also unknown. Trump has to do what is necessary to get past the midterms, and…...

44+ min ago (812+ words) A mother who felt pressured by her husband to take the abortion pill at nine weeks into her pregnancy says a Las Vegas pregnancy center helped save her child's life after she experienced regret. During a press call on Monday, nurse Jessica Williams said she was preparing to divorce her husband in 2022 during a period she described as "one of the hardest seasons of [her] life." While she and her husband were separated, Williams met another man and became pregnant with his child. Williams said her husband demanded that she have an abortion so they could attempt to reconcile their marriage. "The pressure, confusion and emotional turmoil were overwhelming," Williams recalled during the call with reporters hosted by the pro-life research organization Charlotte Lozier Institute to highlight its 2025 "National Pregnancy Center Report." "In my moments of fear, confusion, and pressure…...

29 GOP Lawmakers Push Bill to Halt Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Travel for Illegal Immigrants

1+ hour, 6+ min ago (210+ words) Twenty-nine Republican lawmakers have backed a bill introduced Thursday morning to end taxpayer-funded abortion travel for illegal immigrants. Critics, including the bill's backers, argue this policy flagrantly violated the Hyde Amendment, a longstanding federal law prohibiting the use of taxpayer dollars for most abortions. Under Biden, they claim, ORR became an outlet for funding travel, lodging, and related expenses to facilitate abortions for undocumented minors in federal custody. Now, with President Donald Trump back in the White House, the administration is allegedly poised to rescind the Biden-era rule outright in order to replace it with stricter guidelines that prioritize "common-sense protection of life," the press release emphasized. In effect, Harris and Miller's bill would codify these changes into law to help ensure they survive future administrations. In addition to Harris and Miller, co-sponsors of the bill include congressmen from Texas,…...

Pro-lifer sues woman who assaulted her during street interview

1+ hour, 14+ min ago (247+ words) A pro-life advocate has sued a woman who physically and verbally assaulted her while she was having conversations about abortion on the streets of New York City. The lawsuit comes after Manhattan's district attorney failed to prosecute the attacker. The complaint states that Antao now suffers from PTSD. Antao has reportedly received hundreds of death threats, and "she now lives with the ongoing fear that the same thing could happen to her as happened to Kirk," according to the complaint. Rivers was arrested and charged with felony assault, but Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office changed the charge to a misdemeanor. According to the Thomas More Society, the legal nonprofit representing Antao, the case was dismissed "due to prosecutorial neglect." The complaint states that Bragg's office refused to refile the charges or charge Rivers with a hate crime. Thomas More…...

Prince Albert of Monaco rules out legalizing abortion, citing country’s Catholic identity

1+ hour, 19+ min ago (285+ words) In a pro-life win for children and families, Prince Albert II has rejected a proposed bill that would have legalized ending a pre-born child's life on demand up to 12 weeks while expanding existing exceptions. The decision, delivered ahead of Monaco's National Day, halts the bill because the prince holds final constitutional authority over legislation, according to the Monaco Tribune. Under the current law, updated in 2019, abortion in Monaco remains illegal in nearly all circumstances. Exceptions are cases posing a serious risk to the mother's life or health, fetal conditions deemed "incompatible with life," or pregnancies resulting from rape that have been reported accordingly. According to an exclusive interview with Monaco-Matin, reported by the Monaco Tribune, Prince Albert said "the current framework respects who we are," and strikes "a balance respectful of our fundamental identity." Had the proposed bill been enacted,…...
